Problems with Your Dishwasher You Should Never Ignore

Posted on

For most homes, dishes have to be washed on a daily basis. As such, having to deal with a malfunctioning dishwasher can be quite a frustrating experience. However, what some people do not realize is that simple appliance repairs can easily fix some of the common problems that your dishwasher faces. Therefore, instead of ignoring the problem until it becomes aggravated, always seek professional repair services to return your dishwasher to optimal functionality. It should be noted that although some dishwasher problems may seem easy to fix, it is always best to leave this task to the professionals so that you do not damage your dishwasher further. The following are some of the dishwasher problems that you should not ignore but instead seek dishwasher repairs post haste.

Your dishwasher has started making strange noises

Granted, dishwashers do not run inaudibly. However, neither are they supposed to make a racket. If you find that there are strange noises being emitted by your dishwasher, chances are you will need appliance repairs. One of the most common culprits of this noise is a defective pump in the dishwasher. However, noisy dishwashing may also be caused by a faulty bearing ring or a damaged arm seal. Your dishwasher will also become noisy if its spray arms keep hitting the dishes when the appliance is turned on and these would need to be replaced with new ones.

Your dishwasher has stopped draining

After washing your dishes, the dishwasher is supposed to drain so that you can take your dishes out. If your dishwasher loses its ability to drain, then your dishes could end up being held hostage in your dishwasher, as you will not be able to take them out. Additionally, if the dishwasher is not draining properly, it puts your kitchen at risk of flooding and subsequent water damage. When this happens, the problem probably lies with a faulty drain sump valve. Your dishwasher may also not drain id its drain pump has malfunctioned or if it is running on a faulty motor. A technician would be able to diagnose the cause and repair the damage.

Your dishwasher has developed a leak

A leaking dishwasher should be addressed post haste as this could mean gradual water damage in your kitchen. The most common sign of a leaking dishwasher is water puddling below it whenever it is in use. If you notice your dishwasher is leaking, you need to stop using it until the problem is fixed. These leaks could stem from drainpipes that have acquired damage in the form of cracks. It can also be caused when your dishwasher's gasket has become compromised.
